New robbery technique is on the rise. A new crime trend consists of individuals stealing women’s purses from their vehicles at gas stations when they’re busy pumping gas. Women in particular are vulnerable because many typically leave their bags or purses unprotected on the front seat with the door unlocked and the window down. Police are advising people to lock doors, roll up windows and keep valuable close-by.
The thieves have been tagged ‘sliders’, because they slide up to your vehicle below the eye level of the car door and can snatch a purse in a matter of seconds.
The next time you pull up to a gas station, lock your doors, take your belongings and keep an eye out for “sliders.”
